Home & School
The Strath Haven Home and School Association is a partnership between parents and teachers committed to the education of our children. As a parent, you are a member of our organization and your participation helps make it a successful year. We recognize that students benefit from parental involvement, knowledge and interest in their school.
The website has been developed to facilitate communication. You will find the executive board and committee members with contact information, home and school position descriptions, copies of the eBlast, meeting minutes, fundraising activities and volunteer needs. In addition, we support community activities, as well as our middle and elementary schools, by publicizing events.
We look forward to a great school year working with our students, teachers, and volunteers to support the academic and social development of all our students in a fun and safe environment.
To clarify the multiple fundraising events that occur, listed below are descriptions of the major efforts.
The SHHS Phone Directory is the only Home and School fundraiser. The monies raised through the sales supports the annual teacher wish list. The wish list is submitted to the Home and School by Dr. Brown. Prior to submission, Dr. Brown and the faculty collaborate on items that would benefit our students but were not able to be purchased through the school budget. The wish list must be approved by a member vote at the Home and School meeting.
Senior After Prom is an event held at the high school after the senior prom to provide a safe and fun party for the seniors. The class representatives and their subcommittees aggressively raise money to provide this grand event.
Class fundraising is determined by the class faculty representative and is supported by the class parent representatives. Monies raised in collaboration directly impact the cost of the prom tickets. Class representatives may also raise monies for their year's After Prom.
